It’s not a fairytale. It’s the YWCA’s Open Your Purse event, and it’s all about purses, passion and empowerment.

Open Your Purse to the YWCA is a silent and live auction to benefit the YWCA and the Women in Transition program. It has been called “guilt-free shopping at its finest,” as attendees know that their fun and fabulous purchases can have a life-changing impact on Atlanta women and children.

Now in its fourth year, Open Your Purse event was the first of its kind in Atlanta, and has seen increasing support over time. In 2007, more than 350 attendees (primarily women), helped raise $125,000 for the YWCA to help women transition from homelessness to selfsufficiency.

In addition to featuring amazing purses donated by Atlanta’s most fashionable boutiques, designers and retailers, the event recognizes a graduate of the YWCA’s Women in Transition program with the Power of the Purse Award. The honoree is an exceptional woman who has completed the 18-month supportive housing program and overcome incredible odds to achieve success for herself and her family.

Exhilarating, emotional and entertaining, Open Your Purse is truly THE not-to-miss event of the season.
