Job Title:Community Health Educator
Status: Part-time
Report To:Women in Transition, Director
Essential Job Responsibilities and Results:
- Facilitate health education outreach workshops as it relates to breast and cervical cancer and other health concerns
- Facilitate and lead recreational activities as it relates to the “It’s never to early” breast cancer awareness program for teens
- Conduct needs assessments as it relates to breast cancer and other public health concerns
- Provide education and information about health issues to clients on a one-to-basis and provide information about community resources
- Recruit and train volunteers
- Assist with follow up appointments.
- Monitor mammography and HPV results
- Transport program participants to appointments.
- Develop and monitor collaborative relationships with agencies and organizations interested in public health and local breast /cervical cancer awareness providers
Key Competencies:
- Facilitation skills
- Good Communication Skills
- Bi-lingual in English and Spanish
- Knowledge of Promotera Model or “House Party”model
- Ability to work independently
- Bachelors Degree preferred or equal equivalent work experience in public health, social work or human services
- Ability to work with diverse backgrounds
- Ability to address health needs of minority women
- Computer literate
